2012 So Far…..
I’ve had a very busy start to 2012. In January I recorded my first album under my own name. The Gavin Barras Quintet features the great Ed Jones on tenor saxophone, Corey Mwamba on vibes, Steve Plews on piano and Dave Walsh on drums. The record is called The Day of Reckoning and features eight of my compositions. It will be released on ASC Records (ascrecords.com)
The European Union Quartet had a short tour of Holland and Belgium in January. We played again at the Sounds Jazz Club in Brussels – a great gig!
I have been busy with lots of gigs in February. Highlights included a great gig with Arun Ghosh at The Y Theatre in Leicester and a gig in Ambleside with Unfurl. The group Unfurl has a debut album coming out in 2012 and all info can be found at www.unfurl.me.uk
