Been loving playing a short tour of Belgium with Matthew Halsall. Last night in Leuven and tonight in Bruges. Last time I was here I was on my honeymoon!!!

I’m really enjoying playing with Ducie a new band from Manchester. We are doing a tour over the next couple of weeks. Last night in Brighton was not only the first gig of the tour but the first gig by the band EVER!!

Been loving the start of 2013 – some nice gigs played already and more to come!! I played at Matt and Phreds Jazz Club in Manchester last night with the Nat Birchall Quintet which was a real pleasure. Here’s to a great, positive 2013!!!!

I’ve been listening a lot to the great bassist Chuck Israels recently. Particularly the trio albums with Bill Evans and Larry Bunker. My favourites include Trio 65, Live at Shellys Manne Hole and At Town Hall. Here is the first 16 bars of Israels bass solo on ‘I Should Care’ from the At Town Hall album.
